Bismarck, ND – June 17, 2024 – Legal Services of North Dakota is proud to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the Legendary Empowerment Grant, awarded by the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (ND DOCR). The $10,000 grant will fund the creation of an innovative “Economic Toolkit for Survivors of Domestic Violence,” aimed at enhancing the economic independence and resilience of survivors across the state.
The Legendary Empowerment Grant is part of a groundbreaking initiative from ND DOCR designed to inspire and implement revolutionary support systems for victims of crime in North Dakota. Legal Services of North Dakota’s project, “Steps Forward: Economic Independence Toolkit,” was chosen for its visionary approach to empowering survivors through economic education and resource availability.
Project Details:
- Development of a Comprehensive Economic Toolkit: Tailored specifically to the needs of domestic violence survivors, this toolkit will provide vital resources on financial planning, legal rights, and access to emergency funds and compensation.
- Statewide Educational Workshops: To be held across North Dakota, these workshops will equip survivors with crucial financial literacy skills and knowledge to foster long-term stability and independence.
- Online Resource: A dedicated resource will be developed to ensure that all survivors have ongoing access to the toolkit and other resources, enabling them to navigate their recovery process effectively.
