Legal Services of North Dakota (LSND) is honored to be the recipient of a $21,163.33 cy pres award from the Metler v. First International Bank & Trust lawsuit. This generous award will help LSND continue its mission of providing essential legal services to underserved communities across North Dakota.
Cy pres awards, derived from residual funds in class action settlements, play a crucial role in supporting organizations like LSND that work to ensure equal access to justice for all. These funds will be used to expand legal assistance for low-income individuals, improve outreach and education, and enhance LSND’s ability to serve those facing critical legal issues.
“We are incredibly grateful for this cy pres award, which will allow us to continue advocating for North Dakotans in need,” said Jen Lee, LSND’s Executive Director. “These funds will directly support our efforts to provide legal aid to vulnerable populations, including seniors, veterans, and families struggling with housing, consumer rights, and public benefits issues.”
Legal Services of North Dakota is dedicated to protecting the rights of those who cannot afford legal representation. This award reaffirms the importance of community partnerships and the impact of cy pres funds in advancing justice.
